3rd Annual Southeastern Health Economics Study Group Conference: The Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina

Submission Deadline: June 1, 2005 Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Conference Dates: October 14-15, 2005

The purpose of this invitational conference is to present and promote active exchange and discussion of the latest health economics research among senior and junior economists. Some meals will be provided. All other expenses, including transportation and lodging, are the participants’ responsibility. Ten papers will be accepted for presentation. The conference will consist of a full day of presentations on Friday, October 14 and a half-day of presentations on Saturday, October 15. Each paper will be allotted one hour, including 30 minutes for presentation and 30 minutes for discussant comments and discussion from the floor. The number of participants in the conference will be limited. While submissions are invited from any geographical location, preference will be given to presenters from the southeastern region of the United States.

This year, we are pleased to announce that the SHESG will be teaming with the Southern Economic Journal to publish a selection of papers from the conference as a special symposium in the Journal. This symposium will be published in one of the regular issues of the SEJ and will consist of up to five papers that are topically related. Papers will be peer reviewed by members of the SHESG steering committee, organizers at the University of South Carolina, and discussants from the conference. After papers are selected for presentation at the conference, authors will be asked whether they would like to have their paper considered for the symposium; participation is completely voluntary and will not affect the likelihood of acceptance in any way.

If you would like to participate, please submit an abstract (maximum of two pages) in electronic format (pdf preferred) to gdance@moore.sc.edu by June 1, 2005. Submissions should be unpublished. Decisions will be made by July 1; completed papers must be received by the conference organizers by September 12, 2005. For further information, please contact Melayne Morgan McInnes (803/777-6087, mcinnes@moore.sc.edu).
