17th Annual Health Economics Conference: CHEPS and VA Management Science Group

The Seventeenth Annual Health Economics Conference will take place March 24-26, 2006, hosted by the Center for Health Economic and Policy Studies (CHEPS) in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and jointly sponsored by the VA Management Science Group.
The purpose of this invitational conference is to facilitate discussion of health economics research among a relatively small group of economists. Papers will be chosen for their originality and timeliness. All conference lunches and dinners for presenters and discussants will be covered by CHEPS. All other expenses, including transportation, are the participants’ responsibility.
Anyone wishing to present at this invitational conference is asked to submit an abstract with a maximum of two pages, by December 1, 2005, electronically formatted (pdf preferred) to Debra Siler at siler@musc.edu. Please include “Health Economics Conference” in subject line. Submitted papers should be unpublished.
Decisions on accepted abstracts will be made by December 23, 2005 and completed papers must be received by the conference organizers by February 14, 2006.

6th Ann Arbor Research Conference on the Uninsured: Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured (ERIU)

The Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured (ERIU) is organizing its sixth Ann Arbor research conference.
Papers on the determinants and consequences of health insurance status; the role and influence of private health insurance markets or public programs on the uninsured; the interaction between labor market dynamics and health insurance coverage; the effects of policies and programs to expand coverage for the uninsured; and the nature and determinants of changes in coverage over time will be considered.
Abstracts should be roughly 500-1000 words in length and include a description of the research problem, the data source, the research design, and how the results will advance research and policy on the uninsured. Include a separate cover page identifying each author and their affiliations.
Abstracts should be sent via email to Mary Harrington, mehn@umich.edu, by close of business December 1, 2005.
