28th Australian Conference of Health Economists: Australian Health Economics Society (AHES)

Conference Dates: 28-29 September 2006

The 28th Australian Conference of Health Economists, organised by the Australian Health Economics Society (AHES), will be held in Perth on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th September, 2006. The presentations will be 20 minutes in length, and subject to availability, a discussant will be assigned to each paper presented. Abstracts for papers are invited on any topics relating to health economics, and should be e-mailed in pdf format to Michael Shields (ahes2006@econ.unimelb.edu.au) no later than 10th July 2006. Abstracts received after the deadline will not be considered. Authors will be notified of decisions regarding acceptance by the 21st August 2006, and will be required to provide a full copy of their paper (7,000 words maximum) to the discussant by 1st September 2006.

It is expected that paper presenters will also be willing to act as a discussant on another paper. Expressions of interest in being a discussant (if not submitting an abstract) are also welcome and should also be submitted by 10th July 2006.

The keynote speakers will be Andrew Jones (University of York), Gavin Mooney (Curtin University) and Di McIntyre (University of Cape Town). The conference will be held in Perth at the Parmelia Hilton. The local organiser is Sandra Hopkins (Curtin University; e-mail: Sandra.Hopkins@cbs.curtin.edu.au). Travel Scholarships: The Australian Health Economics Society will finance up to two Travel Scholarships to assist junior researchers in the Asia-Pacific region to attend the 2006 Conference and present a paper. AHES will refund the travel and conference expenses up to a maximum of A$1,500 per scholarship. Anyone wishing to be considered for these scholarships must have their complete conference paper, together with a supporting letter from their PhD supervisor or Head of Department, submitted by Friday 10th July 2006.
