<title>6th Ann Arbor Research Conference on the Uninsured: Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured (ERIU)</title>

<p>The Economic Research Initiative on the Uninsured (ERIU) is organizing its sixth Ann Arbor research conference.</p>

<p>Papers on the determinants and consequences of health insurance status; the role and influence of private health insurance markets or public programs on the uninsured; the interaction between labor market dynamics and health insurance coverage; the effects of policies and programs to expand coverage for the uninsured; and the nature and determinants of
changes in coverage over time will be considered.</p>

<p>Abstracts should be roughly 500-1000 words in length and include a description of the research problem, the data source, the research design, and how the results will advance research and policy on the uninsured. Include a separate cover page identifying each author and their affiliations.</p>

<title>17th Annual Health Economics Conference: CHEPS and VA Management Science Group</title>

<p>The Seventeenth Annual Health Economics Conference will take place March 24-26, 2006, hosted by the Center for Health Economic and Policy Studies (CHEPS) in the Department of Health Policy and Administration at The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and jointly sponsored by the VA Management Science Group.  </p>

<p>The purpose of this invitational conference is to facilitate discussion of health economics research among a relatively small group of economists.  Papers will be chosen for their originality and timeliness.  All conference lunches and dinners for presenters and discussants will be covered by CHEPS.  All other expenses, including transportation, are the participants&#8217; responsibility.  </p>

<title>Research Mentorship Awards in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research: Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Training in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research</title>

<p>The <a href="http://www.icmpe.org/">Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Training in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research</a> - 2006/2007 is launching a Call for Applications for the competitive Research Mentorship Awards in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research.</p>

<p>The Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Training in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research offers to the different participants in the field of mental health policy and economics (clinicians, health economists, epidemiologists, health services and health policy researchers, sociologists) an interdisciplinary,  rigorous, structured, introductory research training program combining coherently traditional face-to-face and internet-based training. The participants will have the opportunity to interact with internationally recognized distinguished authorities from different disciplines relevant for this research field; and will be mentored in the development of research plans, research publication, research presentation, and research grant applications.</p>

<p>The Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Training in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research relies on three segmented modules, that while consistently structured, are designed to be independent and &#8220;complete&#8221; in themselves.</p>

<ul>
<li><strong>Module 1:</strong>  <cite>Interdisciplinary Training</cite> - Module 1 provides a face-to-face  interdisciplinary, introductory approach to the core components of the field of mental health policy and economics research to Research Mentees and Participants.</li>
<li><strong>Module 2:</strong> <cite>Introduction to Selected Research Pathways</cite> - Module 2 provides  Research Mentees and Participants a face-to-face introduction  to the mentored  research project exercises (see Module 3). </li>
<li><strong>Module 3:</strong> <cite>Development, Discussion and Presentation Research Project Mentored Experience</cite> - Module 3 enables a selected number of Research Mentees to develop, discuss and present a research project through an internet and face-to-face mentorship. Participation in Module 3 will require also participation to Modules 1-2.</li>
</ul>

<p>Modules 2-3 are closely related. They will be developed by the winners of the competitive Research Mentorship Awards in Mental Health Policy and Economics Research aimed at selecting the best research mentorship projects submitted by Candidate Research Mentors (Information at www.icmpe.org).</p>

<title>Risk Theory Society Annual Seminar: Virginia Commonwealth University</title>

<p>The Risk Theory Society will hold its annual seminar on April 21-23, 2006 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA.  </p>

<p>The Risk Theory Society is a group of economists, financial economists, and actuaries who undertake theoretical and applied research in the areas of insurance economics, financial economics related to insurance markets, actuarial science, and, more generally, in the economic analysis of risk and uncertainty . Membership in the Society is earned by presenting a paper at the yearly Risk Theory Society Seminar.</p>

<p>The Risk Theory Society invites interested parties to submit a paper for the 2006 meeting. Authors of selected papers present their research to the members in a seminar setting. Historically, the seminar has been thought provoking and the &#8220;no holds barred&#8221; approach has allowed for rigorous discussion of an author&#8217;s findings.</p>

<p>Five-page abstracts (or a rough draft of a paper) on any relevant topic should be e-mailed by December 15th, 2005 to:</p>

<title>5th International Conference On Health Economics, Management And Policy</title>

<p>The University of Athens (School of Law, Economics and Political Science) in 
collaboration with the Health Research Unit of the Athens Institute for 
Education and Research (ATINER) organize their 5th International Conference in 
Athens, Greece, June 5-7, 2006.</p>

<p>The registration fee will be €300 (euro), covering access to all sessions, 2 
lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Special arrangements will be 
made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference 
rate. In addition, a Greek Night with live music and a one-day cruise to 
picturesque Greek Islands will be organized.</p>

<p>The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and 
students from all areas of health economics, management and policy. Special 
Sessions will be devoted to Equity and Poverty in Health, Pharmaceutical 
Economics, Quality of Life, Economic Evaluation, Health Care Reforms, Social 
Security, School Health Programs, and Health Related Business. </p>

<p>Selected (reviewed) papers will be published in a Special Volume of the

<p>The University of Athens (School of Law, Economics and Political Science) in 
collaboration with the Health Research Unit of the Athens Institute for 
Education and Research (ATINER) organize their 5th International Conference in 
Athens, Greece, June 5-7, 2006.</p>

<p>The registration fee will be €300 (euro), covering access to all sessions, 2 
lunches, coffee breaks and conference material. Special arrangements will be 
made with local hotels for a limited number of rooms at a special conference 
rate. In addition, a Greek Night with live music and a one-day cruise to 
picturesque Greek Islands will be organized.</p>

<p>The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars, researchers and 
students from all areas of health economics, management and policy. Special 
Sessions will be devoted to Equity and Poverty in Health, Pharmaceutical 
Economics, Quality of Life, Economic Evaluation, Health Care Reforms, Social 
Security, School Health Programs, and Health Related Business. </p>

<p>Selected (reviewed) papers will be published in a Special Volume of the 
Conference Proceedings. </p>

<p>The Geneva Association Health and Ageing Research Program is pleased to announce a Special issue of &#8220;The Geneva Papers on Risk and Insurance - Issues and Practice  on Health Insurance&#8221; October 2006</p>

<p>We encourage you to submit contributions related to the following areas:</p>

<ul>
<li>The impact of integrating an ageing population in health insurance systems.</li>
<li>The effect of technology change on health insurance.</li>
<li>The cost of intervention and technological advances in medicine.</li>
<li>Development of health care systems and the capitalization debate.</li>
<li>The interaction of public and private systems in health care provision.</li>
<li>Long-term health care insurance and long-term health risks.</li>
</ul>

<p>Suggestions for other topics will be considered by the editors.</p>

<p>The issue will be co-edited by Christophe Courbage (The Geneva Association) and Joan Costa-Font (LSE &amp; University of Barcelona). All contributions will go through a blind refereeing process.
