University of Calgary to Host IHEA 2025 Congress

The International Health Economics Association (IHEA) is pleased to announce that Calgary, Alberta, has been selected as the location for the IHEA 2025 Congress to be hosted by the University of Calgary and the Institute of Health Economics (IHE).

University of Calgary health economists maintain close partnerships with care providers and academic institutions across the globe, and are deeply involved with practical and theoretical research. Their research covers a wide range of healthcare topics relevant to diverse patient populations. Methodological research expertise includes, but is not limited to the evaluation of models of care, simulation modeling, cost-effectiveness analysis, chronic disease patient care trajectories, valuation in precision health and rare diseases, pricing and innovation models, and the influence of socio-political contexts and norms for access to healthcare including determinants of health among Indigenous people. The IHE is an independent, innovative, non-profit organization with key competencies in health economics, health technology assessment, and knowledge transfer.
 
The co-chairs of the local organizing committee are Dr. Deborah Marshall, professor of Health Economics at the University of Calgary and Scientific Director, Research Evaluation and Impact at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and Dr. Aidan Hollis, professor of Economics at the University of Calgary and president of Incentives for Global Health.

The IHEA 2025 Congress will be held from July 19 – 23, 2025, at the University of Calgary, located in the heart of Southern Alberta, which acknowledges and pays tribute to the traditional territories of the peoples of Treaty 7, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (comprised of the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai First Nations), the Tsuut’ina First Nation, and the Stoney Nakoda (including Chiniki, Bearspaw, and Goodstoney First Nations). The City of Calgary is also home to the Métis Nation of Alberta Region III.
