2025 IHEA Congress Updates

Early Bird Registration has been extended to June 1st!

IHEA is very aware in the current global financial context, of the difficulties facing many who would like to participate in the 2025 IHEA Congress from July 19th to 23rd. So as not to disadvantage anyone who has not yet secured funding, we are extending the period to benefit from the lower early-bird registration fees to June 1st 2025.

A reminder that it is less expensive to pay for a two-year IHEA membership and benefit from the lower member registration fee than it is to register as a non-member. You can sign up or renew your membership here before registering. Membership benefits extend far beyond lower congress registration fees – you can participate in the professional development mentoring program, join one or more of the Special Interest Groups and benefit in many other ways.

Detailed program will be available in late May 2025

Now that the deadline for presenters to register has passed, preparation of the congress program has begun.  The Scientific Committee Program Chairs are currently grouping all individual abstracts, where the presenter is registered, into coherent sessions.  Individual abstract and organized sessions will then be scheduled into day, time and venue slots.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we undertake this time-consuming activity and will let everyone know as soon as the program is available.

Portal for making changes to your submission

In the near future, we will open an online ‘Speaker Centre’, where you will be able to update your details (e.g. if your email address or institution has changed), change the presenter, add additional co-authors and update other key information.  We will let you know as soon as the portal is open, so that you can make updates that will be reflected on the program.

Registration for pre-congress sessions will open soon

The pre-congress session program is about to be finalized.  We apologize that there have been delays due to the ongoing funding uncertainty faced by many pre-congress session organizers.

We will soon publish the final list of pre-congress sessions, along with a short description, and open registration for these sessions.  Please note: everyone registered for the congress can register and attend pre-congress sessions without any further payment. The registration system is only necessary due to limited capacity in some session venues and to assist session organizers in tailoring their inputs to those registered for their session.

Last day to submit an abstract for the 2026 ASSA/AEA meeting

The International Health Economics Association (IHEA), American Society of Health Economists (ASHEcon) and the Health Economics Research Organization (HERO) are soliciting papers for presentation at the 2026 Allied Social Science Association (ASSA) annual meeting to be held from January 3-5, 2026 (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) in Philadelphia, PA. Based on submitted abstracts, papers will be selected for two IHEA-organized sessions, one ASHEcon-organized session and five HERO-organized sessions.

IHEA seeks abstracts for sessions that will focus primarily on internationally relevant topics in health economics, ASHEcon seeks abstracts on topics related to US-focused health economics topics, and HERO seeks abstracts on all issues of relevance to the health economics field.

Submission Guidelines

Anyone is eligible to submit an abstract. Abstract text must be 3,000 characters, including spaces, or less. You may submit a proposal for an organized session including four abstracts and discussants. Please note that there is no guarantee that all papers in a proposed organized session would necessarily be on the program. IHEA, ASHEcon and HERO are independent organizations each with affiliate status in the ASSA.

Note: As a condition of submission, if your paper gets into multiple ASSA/AEA areas, the submitter will withdraw from the others and prioritize these health economics sessions.

Please submit abstracts here by May 1, 2025

IHEA Mentorship Update

We apologize for the delayed start but we are pleased to share that the IHEA mentoring program officially launched earlier this April!

Mentees have been contacted and are now able to select their preferred mentors. If you haven’t already, please visit the Mentoring System to make your selection as soon as possible.

A reminder that this is a mentee-driven program: once matched, mentees are responsible for reaching out to their mentors to schedule an initial meeting.

Mentors will be notified once a mentee has selected them.

Thank you for your participation and support in making this program a success!
