I am honored to stand for election as Early Career Researcher (ECR) Director, Global North on the International Health Economics Association (IHEA) Board. I believe that I can contribute my experience, energy, and perspective to advance IHEA’s mission of promoting inclusive, innovative, and impactful health economics research and policy engagement for the Global North and across the globe.
I am currently an ECR and Assistant Professor at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) at the University of Toronto, where my research examines how access to health information shapes both the demand for and supply of health care, and how this ultimately shapes equitable health outcomes. I received my PhD in Economics from Boston University in 2022. Since graduating, I have published in respected health economics and health policy journals including RESTAT, JAMA Health Forum, and Health Affairs. My work has been supported by competitive research grants prioritizing evidence-based approaches to improving health systems.
As an ECR, I see the unique challenges and opportunities facing emerging scholars in health economics, particularly now during a time of financial strain for universities globally. IHEA has made significant progress in recent years advancing inclusive mentorship, visibility, and access to collaborative networks for ECRs, and I would be thrilled to help expand and strengthen these initiatives. I hope to enhance opportunities for professional development, foster cross-regional research exchanges, and promote equitable participation for early career scholars from diverse institutional and disciplinary backgrounds.
If elected, I would bring a combination of academic rigor, collaborative experience, and strong advocacy for ECRs in the Global North. I am particularly motivated to represent voices that often go unheard in global forums—those navigating the transition from training to independent research, those finding academic homes outside of economics departments, and those aiming to build new collaborations across the globe. I believe the ECR community is one of IHEA’s greatest strengths, and I plan to continue bolstering this community.
