We would like to wish all of our members, volunteers, and committee a Happy New Year! 2025 is set to be an exciting year for IHEA, with our biennial IHEA Congress taking place in beautiful Bali this July. We also have a range of engaging and educational webinars, mentoring and fellowship opportunities, and more planned throughout the year. Update on 2025 IHEA Congress in Bali
We are thrilled at the massive interest in the 2025 IHEA Congress โ we received over 25% more abstract submissions, and more than double the number of pre-congress session proposals, than previous records. This bodes well for a jam-packed and exciting event.
Information on the pre-congress sessions will be advertised soon; there is great diversity of topics in the program and there will be something of interest to almost everyone on both Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th July, so plan on arriving early to benefit from these sessions.
We would, however, alert abstract submitters to two challenges that result from the high number of submissions:
- The intensive peer-review process undertaken by the Review Panel, Program Chairs and Scientific Committee Chairs is taking longer than planned โ submitters will only be informed of the outcome at the end of February / early March;
- As the number of sessions, and hence presentation opportunities, is comparable to other Congresses, the acceptance rate will be lower and the quality โbarโ higher than in recent years.
The Scientific Committee is exploring ways to include as many presenters as possible while maintaining high quality. These include introducing sessions for lightning or elevator 3-minute presentations and restricting the number of presentations during the congress to one per person.
We will release the outcomes of the Scientific Committee process as soon as possible, but we do not expect to be able to do so before the end of February.

14th Meeting of the Australasian Workshop on Econometrics and Health Economics
This workshop will provide a forum for the development and dissemination of applications of econometrics and other quantitative approaches in health economics. It will follow the format of the long-running European workshops on econometrics and health economics.
We are now calling for papers for presentation, with up to 14 papers to be accepted. Presentations by doctoral students and early career researchers are encouraged.
The number of workshop participants is strictly limited, and participants will be expected to attend the whole meeting.

Latin American Health Economics Network – Call for Papers for the 2025 RIDGE MAY Forum
The Latin American Health Economics Network will hold its annual workshop together with other LACEAโs networks at the 2025 RIDGE MAY Forum, Universidad del Pacรญfico, Lima, Perรบ, on May 14-15, 2025. The deadline for submission has been extended to February 7th, 2025.
Full papers, in PDF format, should be submitted online via the RIDGE website: https://ridge.org.uy/ridge-forums/.
Around 12 papers will be selected, each of which will have 45 minutes for presentation, feedback, and discussion. Authors will be able to select a first and second preference of workshops to present the paper, although the papers may only be presented once.
