Individual Member Benefits
Becoming an IHEA member gives you access to largest global community of health economists. With over 1,600 members from more than 100 countries, you can engage with and learn from those who are interested in health economics methods and applications in many different country contexts.
IHEA members have the exclusive opportunity to take part in our mentorship program. The program is designed to match early- to mid-career members with more experienced health economists with similar research interests. This program provides considerable benefits not just for mentees, but also for mentors. Mentors can help guide their mentees through the early stages of their careers, share the lessons they’ve learned along the way and gain satisfaction by helping someone else achieve success.
As a member, you can join any of IHEA’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs), which provide opportunities for collegial engagement and networking with IHEA members across the world working in the same field. Our SIGs focus on a wide range of specific health economics research issues, as well as teaching and a group dedicated to early career researchers. They provide a space to exchange ideas, disseminate knowledge, and advance your skills.
IHEA members are able to submit proposals to establish new Special Interest Groups (SIGs). SIGs provide a platform for professional interaction around specific health economics topics with researchers in many different countries. SIGs approved by the IHEA Board are provided with: a dedicated page on the website; mechanisms for sharing resources and views; support for regular webinars and other virtual networking events; and opportunities for engagement between SIG members at the biennial congresses.
When you join IHEA, you’ll get access to a substantial discount on our biennial congress registration fees. The congress is the only global forum for health economists to engage around the latest methodological developments, present recent research findings and explore the implications of this research for health policy and practice, across the full spectrum of health economics issues. It is the leading venue for networking between researchers, students, industry representatives and policy-makers interested in health economics and to hear from established and emerging leaders in health economics from around the world.
By becoming an IHEA member, you will also have access to a range of other opportunities such as being listed in and having access to the searchable IHEA membership directory; exclusive publication opportunities; and other exclusive benefits that are under development.

University Member Benefits
Becoming an IHEA University member allows you to include feature articles on your Department/Unit in our monthly IHEA newsletter at least once a year. You can also share links to your training programs on a dedicated IHEA list of health economics training programs (only programs of university members will be included), and IHEA will disseminate your key course information (e.g. application deadlines) on our Twitter account.
IHEA University members have access to advertise employment and postdoctoral fellowship opportunities on the IHEA job board and on the IHEA Twitter account at no cost. The job board and twitter account reach a large professional audience.
University membership includes five individual memberships for staff and/or students in your Department/Unit with all the associated benefits. It also includes one complimentary congress registration for a student or early career researcher, for every 10 IHEA members at your university.
University members are also given access to a small meeting room during IHEA congresses on a pre-booked, first-come-first-served basis (e.g. for collaborative research project meetings), as well as a shared exhibition table at the IHEA congress to disseminate information on your Department/Unit’s research and teaching programs.
IHEA has noted that some universities will provide financial support for individual membership of professional associations but will not provide financial support for university membership. In such cases, the above benefits of university membership will be made available if there are 10 or more individual IHEA members within that Department or Unit (which can include up to three early career researchers and/or students). Please contact ihea@healtheconomics.org to arrange for this type of membership.
