| Report on the 2025 Congress Now Available |
| The report on the 2025 Congress can be downloaded here. A few highlights from the report include:Nearly 2,800 abstracts were submitted, the largest number ever, with a relatively even distribution across the fields of health economics.Almost 40% of individual abstract submissions were from researchers in Asia and more than 45% were from researchers in low- and middle-income countries. The 38% response rate was the highest of any post-congress survey. The overall rating of the congress was 4.3 using a scale from 1 (very dissatisfied) to 5 (very satisfied), one of the highest satisfaction ratings compared to other congresses. There were high satisfaction levels with almost all aspects of the congress.Nearly 70% of respondents supported continuing with flash orals as an alternative to posters. Flash orals, a presentation style drawing on the increasingly popular “Pecha Kucha” and “Ignite” format of presentations were an innovation at the 2025 Congress.View recordings of many pre-congress sessions, and the best Flash Oral presentations, here. |
| IHEA SIG Updates |

| Remembering Allen Goodman It is with great sadness that we learnt of the untimely death on September 13 of Dr. Allen C. Goodman during a trip to France. He was on the faculty of the Department of Economics at Wayne State University for 36 years and was known as a passionate and inspiring teacher and a supportive mentor. |
| Allen was a driving force in the creation of the Teaching Health Economics Special Interest Group. He championed best practice in teaching across the world and played a huge part in sharing the great work that members of IHEA were doing in teaching the next generation of health economists. He and Maia Platt brought together information shared during the 2017 IHEA pre-congress session into the Elgar Handbook on Teaching Health Economics (pictured here with Allen’s beloved cat Jack). |

| His contributions to the Teaching Health Economics SIG will be missed greatly. Allen was always there with a smile, an encouraging word and an idea for a seminar. Our sincere condolences to his wife Janet, and daughter Sara. |

The Award was set up in honour of the late Kenneth Arrow and in recognition of the influence of his seminal paper from 1963 “Uncertainty and the welfare economics of medical care”. |
| Deadline: Monday, January 19, 2026 In pursuit of greater diversity in the papers considered for this award, including the research topics and health system contexts where research is undertaken, IHEA would like to encourage its members to nominate papers published in peer-reviewed journals during 2025 that push the frontiers of health economics forward.
